Unveiling the Power of Prevention: Apical's Mission to Strengthen Women's Health in Jakarta
In a bold move to address a critical health issue, Apical, a leading vegetable oil processor, has taken a stand against stunting in Cilincing, North Jakarta. But here's where it gets controversial: they're focusing on women's health as the cornerstone of their strategy. And this is the part most people miss - by empowering women, they're not just improving individual lives but building a foundation for healthier communities.
On December 15, 2025, Apical, through its business unit PT Asianagro Agungjaya (PT AAJ), joined hands with the Cilincing Community Health Centre (Puskesmas Cilincing) to launch a groundbreaking initiative. Targeting women of reproductive age, the program aims to raise awareness and improve access to essential health services, particularly reproductive health, which is often overlooked but crucial for the well-being of families and future generations.
Sugiantoro, Apical's CSR Manager, emphasized their long-term vision: "Healthy women are the backbone of strong families and communities. Our focus on early prevention, rather than just treatment, is a testament to our commitment to public health."
One of the key aspects of this initiative is the early detection of cervical cancer. Dr. Kezia Ivana from Puskesmas Cilincing highlighted the importance of IVA and HPV screenings, explaining, "Early detection can significantly reduce the risk of cervical cancer progression. When caught early, the chances of recovery are high, but if left undetected, it can lead to severe health complications and even infertility."
Apical's approach aligns with their 5Cs philosophy, ensuring that their actions benefit the Community, Country, Climate, and Customer, thereby creating a positive impact on the Company. Through partnerships with local stakeholders, Apical, a member of the RGE group founded by Sukanto Tanoto, is actively supporting government efforts to tackle stunting and improve social and women's health outcomes, especially in areas surrounding their operations.
This initiative is a prime example of how businesses can drive positive change and contribute to sustainable growth. But here's the question for our readers: Do you think focusing on women's health is the key to tackling broader societal issues? We'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!
