The complex's transformation is remarkable. The new multi-purpose room, a combination of two smaller rooms, is a vast improvement, offering ample space and natural light. The City of Orillia's director of recreation, Marcia Russell, proudly showcased the room, emphasizing the accessibility features, including gender-inclusive restrooms and wheelchair-accessible entrances.
But the upgrades don't stop there. The arena, still proudly bearing the name of Brian Orser, has been given a complete facelift. A new ice pad, change rooms, and access points have been added, along with a new ice plant, lighting, and even a scoreboard. The bleachers have been raised, and the walls repainted, creating a bright and welcoming atmosphere.
And this is the part most people miss: the arena now boasts accessible features for sledge hockey players, including Plexiglass boards in team areas and penalty boxes. 'A great feature,' said Russell, highlighting the complex's commitment to inclusivity.
